One of the main reasons that students request appointments is to get feedback on written work. Before deciding on an appointment, however, we would encourage you to consider other ways you can develop your writing while at uni. One of these ways is to discuss your work at a Study Smarter drop-in. Check out the information below for more details.
Student appointments with a member of the STUDYSmarter team (free to UWA students) allow you to get more in-depth feedback on your writing, but they do require more planning on your part. Here's what you do:
The adviser will read your work carefully and then meet with you to discuss your writing. The focus of the appointment is not on editing, proofreading or 'fixing' your work, but on giving feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of your writing and what you can do to further develop your skills. Many students find it quite helpful to discuss an assignment that they have already handed in and/or received comments on. If this is the case, it is very helpful for the adviser to be able to see the comments you have received.
You don't have to register for workshops. Just sign up for our weekly Get Smart e-newsletter. It will keep you up-to-date with what’s happening. You can unsubscribe at any time. |
