Survival Guides and FAQs
Survival Guides and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are a great place to start helping yourself to improved Learning, Language and Research Skills. These handy information sheets are downloadable and are also available in the LL&RS Resource Area at Student Services, Level 2 of the Guild building at Crawley campus. - FAQs ** New!** include answers to frequently asked questions on writing reports, using sources, avoiding plagiarism and using voice.
- Building Blocks Survival Guides cover topics such as grammar skills, writing essentials and conversation skills.
- Communication Skills Survival Guides give a good overview of topics such as public speaking, group work, seminars, taking notes and speaking in tutorials.
- Essays and Assignments Survival Guides are very popular and cover issues such as literature reviewing, introductions, conclusions, building an argument and lab reports.
- Projects and Research Survival Guides cover topics of interest to all students involved in the research process. The Guides cover topics such as thesis writing, literature reviewing and choosing a supervisor.
- Reading and Thinking Survival Guides cover a wide range of issues such as effective reading, critical thinking, avoiding plagiarism and mind-mapping.
- Study Skills Survival Guides will help students with all sorts of generic skills such as time management, active learning and exam techniques.
- Technology Topics aim to guide students through online issues such as networking in Facebook, using RSS for studying and navigating the UWA online environment
