Writing Circles
Writing Circles are peer learning groups for postgraduate research students. They aim to encourage students to advance their research and their thesis through the development of writing techniques in a interactive and supportive environment. Though not currently running, Writing Circles may be held again in 2009.
| Writing Research GroupResearch is not complete until it is communicated. Clarifying your research questions is best done through written and verbal communication. Similarly, situating your research within a field of study requires you to articulate your understanding of the material. It is never too early to start developing your writing skills. The Writing Research group will help you to - develop good writing habits
- discover writing tips and techniques
- build an interdisciplinary peer network
- critically engage with the literature
- write successful research proposals
- lay the foundations for your thesis
| Writing to CompletionCompleting a thesis can seem like an overwhelming task. You must master writing skills and academic conventions to clearly convey your research. Combine that with the pressure of imminent deadlines and the challenges of working out what is enough, and extra support seems like a great idea. The Writing to Completion group will help you to - develop efficient writing habits
- discover writing tips and techniques
- find support and encouragement from peers
- enhance your editing skills
- respond effectively to feedback
- keep on track for thesis submission
