Critical Thinking Corner: WebCT

Getting the most from WebCT

WebCT, the University's Learning Management System (LMS), enables you to access course materials, unit outlines, Lectopia podcasts, discussion boards and assessments online. It is a useful way to learn more, stay in touch with your peers between classes and access readings and lectures.

Some units use WebCT as a supportive site where students can ask questions, discuss ideas, access Lectopia and connect to course materials. Other units require students to complete and submit assessments through WebCT. In any case, it is useful to have some strategies in mind for engaging with WebCT actively and critically.

3 Ways to WebCT

1. Contribute to discussion - note patterns and trends

2. Appraise your course materials - make links between readings and lectures

3. Listen actively and make notes - identify areas to explore

Take a look at the PowerPoint presentation below to learn more about WebCT and find out how to put these ideas into practice.
