Help within your Faculty

Many students have found that having a single contact person within their division reduces the difficulties they encounter in doing their course. The University of Western Australia has a system of divisional contact persons/mentors for students with disabilities and medical conditions. This person acts as a single point of contact for students, and can advise you and liaise on your behalf. You can contact division mentors to discuss your situation and notify them of any special needs you may have. This may relieve some of the frustration that tends to develop if you have to repeat your story to lecturers, tutors, secretaries, and others.

To assist with the initial contact process, you will be provided with the name of your division's contact person and if you have no objection, your name will be provided to the Division. After this, it is up to the Division and yourself to make contact with each other. If you have any questions about the academic mentor system, do not hesitate to contact UniAccess:UWA's Disability Office.
