Scholarships

The Australian Disability and Indigenous Peoples' Education Fund was set up to assist people with disability gain empowerment through access to formal and informal education programs. The fund distributes grants of up to $2500 four times a year to assist both indigenous and non-indigenous people with disability to continue their learning.

The Deafness Council of WA, with the support of the Hearing Research and Support Foundation, invites nominations for its inaugural Leadership Scholarship. The scholarship, to the value of $3000, is available to a Deaf or Hearing Impaired Western Australian between the age of 18 and 35 years. The objective of the award is to encourage Deaf and Hearing Impaired young people to seek an opportunity to develop their leadership skiils.

The Dr Louisa Alessandri Memorial Fund Scholarship is intended to assist a student with a disability, who has completed at least one semester of their course, achieve his or her career aspirations. Funds can be used for a variety of purposes, including course fees, equipment, support, interpreters, transport etc.

The Deafness Forum offer educational scholarships to provide financial assistance to Deaf/hearing impaired people to facilitate and enhance their participation in post secondary education - in Australian education settings

The International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication supports and encourages the best possible communication methods for people who find communication difficult. ISAAC administers several awards and scholarships for ISAAC members, for people who use AAC and professionals

Two Just Ability Awards will be made available to the highest ranking applicants with a disability who commence study at UWA in 2008

The WA Charter of the Australian Association of Special Education invites people with disabilities or professionals working in the field to apply for educational grants up to $1500

Quantum products aim to empower children, students and adults who have a print disability (blindness, low vision, and learning disabilities). The Quantum Technology Scholarship program offers JAWS, WYNN (What you Need Now) and Braille literacy scholarships

The Freemason's WA Postsecondary Education Grant - Rostrevor Scholarship is available to assist students with a disability to undertake or continue a course of full-time study for a first degree or other qualification at tertiary level.

The June Opie Fellowship is available to citizens and permanent residents of Australia, New Zealand and Canada who have a severe disability. This fellowship is intended for those who plan to undertake postgraduate study with a view to entering the professions, particularly University teaching and research. Applications close October.
