About Us

The Centre will be staffed by a Director, seven to eight Child Care Workers (qualified or assistant) and a food co-ordinator. Staff vary in ages. (For every one staff member employed who has not reached 18 years of age, another is an employee that is over 18 years of age.) The Child Care Manager is administratively responsible for the Centre, reporting to the Registrar. A Management Committee consisting of parents, staff and University administration staff will act as an advisory body for the Centre. The Supervising Officer and Director, Maria Kakasoulis, is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and control of the service, or the person appointed under the Regulations to act in place of the supervising officer.

Staff ratios that the Centre adheres to are:    

                        0-2 year olds    1:4
                        2-3 year olds    1:5
                        3-5 year olds    1:10

We aim to have a Centre which will attract staff, encourage them to stay, gain benefits from their skills and experience, and provide appropriate compensation for their work.

If the programme is to be good for the children, then it must be good for the staff as well.
