Welcome to the UWA Early Learning Centre and UWA Out of School Hours Care Centre
The University of Western Australia is committed to the delivery of excellence in long daycare, after school care and vacation care. Management and staff aim to provide high quality care and enriching learning experiences for all children, in partnership with their families, and in accordance with Government regulations and National Child Care Accreditation Council guidelines.
UWA Child Care Services provides a Long Daycare Centre that offers part-time and full-time care to children aged six weeks to five years, and an Out of School Hours Care service that provides After School Care and Vacation Care for pre-primary students to twelve year olds, during state school terms and school holidays.
In accordance with the Child Care Benefit (Eligibility of Child Care Services for Approval and Continued Approval) Determination 2000 a priority of access is used for all three services, and in particular when filling vacancies on our wait list.
- a child at risk of serious abuse or neglect.
- a child of a single parent who statisfies, or of parents who both satisfy the work, training, study test.
- UWA staff.
- UWA students.
- any other child.
(Non-UWA staff will be given care on a 12 month basis, after which time priority of access will be reviewed at the end of each year.)
The current Long Daycare Centre is located on the corner of Monash Avenue and Hospital Avenue (across the road from the Oral Health Centre) and has been established at this site since March 2000 and is licensed for 47 children/day.
Long Day Care has been relocated to the corner of Gordon and Clifton St, Nedlands, to the newly constructed UWA Early Learning Centre and has increased the licensed number of children per day to 100.
The centre has been designed and created with The National Quality Framework's vision that "all children experience learning that is engaging and builds success for life". The learning environment and staff facilities that have been designed are exceptional and foster the University’ commitment to excellence in child care and achieving work/life balance for staff.
