The UWA Catholic Society

The UWA Catholic Society is a Guild-affiliated, not-for-profit society that has been in existence for over 20 years. There is a strong element of tradition within the society and it has been enriched with hundreds of members over the years. The current UCS Committee consists of a highly motivated group of individuals who are working synergistically to reform the club and its events, expand the membership base, modernize the image of the society and cultivate our relationship with the wider university community. We aim to bring Catholicism back into the lives of young people. We hope that by our balance of social and spiritual activities we can foster this aim by making religion accessible, fresh and valuable.

The Society’s objectives include: to draw spirituality from the wealth of the Catholic heritage; to intellectually appraise contemporary Catholicism; to develop networks with societies of similar ilk; to host valuable and welcoming social interactions; to volunteer charitably to the benefit of the greater community; to foster social and cultural diversity; to maintain a connection with past student members in the form of an alumni, and to nurture the relationship of the Society between the Chaplaincy and Student Guild. The Society shall be dynamic and considerate of change.
