Catholic Chaplaincy

The Rev Fr Armando Carandang (PhD, STD; Pacific Islander-American) views his mission in UWA to be one of serving the pastoral, the sacramental, and the religious educational needs of Catholic students and staff.

To this end, Fr Armando provides confidential religious counselling and spiritual direction, and supports the UWA Catholic Society, a Student-Guild affiliated club, and the Catholic International Students and Friends, an informal cell group. He is available to walk-in counselees in his office.

He celebrates Mass everyday at 1.00pm -  Monday to Friday - during the Teaching Weeks and hears Confession ("sacrament of Reconciliation") upon request on campus. He conducts individual preparation for baptism, confirmation, communion ("RCIA") and marriage.

In addition, Fr Armando leads a Bible Study/Meditation group (Thursdays, 7.00-8.30pm) at St Thomas More College's Begley Room), and offers a systematic Christian Introduction to Philosophy/Theology (Thursdays, 2.00-3.30pm+) in the UWA Chapel's READING ROOM (above the Village Cafe) to anyone interested, able, and committed.
