Graduate Feedback

All students who completed the requirements for the award of a bachelor degree or three-year diploma, a graduate or postgraduate diploma, a graduate certificate, a master’s degree, or a higher degree in the twelve months of an academic year are included in the survey. Those completing a course of study mid-year are surveyed at the end of October in the first survey round. Those completing a course of study at the end of the academic year are surveyed in the second round commencing at the end of April in the next year.

The survey population is essentially of course completers, not ‘graduates’ per se, and includes:

  • Those completing a research-based higher degree (master degree by research or doctorate by research) get the GDS form with the PREQ.
  • Those completing a coursework based qualification (bachelor degree, graduate diploma / certificate, master degree by coursework) get the GDS form with the CEQ.
  • Students continuing with an honours course which includes an additional year of study, and who have thus met the requirements for the award of a pass bachelor degree but who have not actually graduated, are also sent a survey form.

At UWA the Careers Centre conducts the survey and Planning Services prepares the final data file for return to Graduate Careers Australia (GCA). The purpose of the AGS is to provide UWA with information on the main destinations and the higher education experiences of our graduates within 6 months of their qualification for an award. It includes the

Graduate Destination Survey (GDS) - collects information from all graduates about

  • Status and nature of paid work as at 31st October or 30th April – including location, employer, industry, occupation, hours, salary
  • Work during final year of study
  • Further study – including institution, field of study, level of qualification

Course Experience Questionnaire (CEQ) - gathers feedback from undergraduate and postgraduate coursework graduates about key facets of their student experience:

  • Nature of teaching experienced during the course
  • Enhancement of selected generic skills
  • Whether the course generated higher order outcomes and perspectives related to lifelong learning
  • The social experience of learning at university
  • Overall satisfaction with course quality

Postgraduate Research Experience Questionnaire (PREQ) - gathers feedback from postgraduate research graduates about the quality of their research experience:

  • The accessibility and quality of research degree supervision
  • The learning community and conditions provided by the institution
  • The extent of generic analytical and communication skill development
  • The quality of learning infrastructures such as space, equipment & finance
  • Whether the examination process was timely, fair and satisfactory
  • The clarity of learning structures, requirements and standards
  • Overall satisfaction
